Tirana – Tirana
Arrival at Tirana Airport. Meet with Throughout English speaking guide. Short transfer to Durres, Albania`s biggest seaport and ancient city with almost 3000 years of history. The most important site is the amphitheater of the Roman Emperor Adrian with 15.0000 seats which it is second biggest amphitheater in the Balkans. Accommodation in hotel. Overnight.
After breakfast departure to Ohrid with stop in Elbasan city – ancient Scampini, located on the bank of Shkumbin River where the famous roman Egnatia Road crosses. Drive to Macedonia. Visit Struga where River Drim outflows from Ohrid lake. Upon arrival in Ohrid accommodation in hotel. In the afternoon walk in the Ohrid old town pedestrian area and visit the Ali Pasha mosque and the Old Cinar tree – 1100 years old. Overnight in Ohrid.
Breakfast at hotel. Sightseeing of Ohrid Old town. The tour starts from the upper gate and continues with visits of the Antic theatre, the Tsar Samoil fortress, the Plaoshnik archeological complex and the Scenic St. Kaneo church. Free time for lunch by the lake. In the afternoon drive to the St. Naum monastery. On the way visit of Bay of the bones museum – reconstruction of prehistoric settlement erected on wooden piles above the water. Follows a visit of St. Naum with springs of river Drim, part of national park “Galichica”. Dingy boat ride on the springs. Optional dinner in national restaurant with live music and folklore show. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel. Short drive to Vevchani village, a large village built on a steep hillside and sheltered by a mountain. Its architecture is most appealing with many old houses and buildings of all styles and shapes. The sound of water can be heard running through channels throughout the village. It comes from the famous Vevcani Springs which have a water flow of between 400-4000L per second. Here we’ll enjoy walking in the Springs nature park. A drive by Globocica Lake and Debar lake follows to the famous Bigorski monastery with unique iconostas made in deep wood carve technique. Short drive to National park Mavrovo with a short break to enjoy coffee with the view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Next stop is the Decorated mosque a 14th century marvel of ottoman oriental architecture. In the afternoon arrival in Skopje. Accommodation in hotel. Overnight.
After Breakfast the tour of Skopje starts with the Old Bazaar, the second biggest in the world. First, we will visit the Mustafa Pasha Mosque built on the same year as Cristofer Columbus discovery of America (1492). Follows an exploration of the narrow cobblestoned streets filled with craftsmen shops, small restaurants emitting tempting smell in the air. Visit of Suli Han, Kapan Han and Davut Pasha Hamam. Afterwards we’ll pass over the 5 centuries old Stone Bridge to the Macedonia square with dominant impressive fountain of Aleksandar the Great. Visit of memorial house of Mother Theresa and Old Railway station at the end of the walking tour. Drive outside the city crowd to nearby Matka Canyon to enjoy a boat ride to Vrelo Cave.
Return to Skopje. Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel and departure to Kosovo. On the way to Prishtina we will visit the impressing marble cave. Short drive to Prishtina for a sightseeing tour. There we’ll visit the Ethnographic Museum and have a stroll on the central pedestrian street in the heart of Prishtina. We’ll make a stop at the Newborn sign and then have lunch in Agrotuirzem Molla e Eger (mollaeger.com) to taste Kosovo traditional food. After lunch drive to Prizren for a short walk in the old part and visit the Sinan Pasha Mosque and the Shadrvan square Accommodation in hotel, Overnight.
Breakfast at hotel and departure towards the Valbona National Park in Albania holding many pristine springs and an amazing view of the Albanian alps. Accommodation in villa/hotel. Overnight.
Healthy breakfast at hotel. Departure to Koman lake where we will take a ferry from Fierza to Koman lake at 13:00h. Arrival in 15:30h and transfer to Shkoder. Local tour of the city. Accommodation in hotel and overnight.
After breakfast at the hotel departure to visit the medieval town of Kruja, one of the principal historic cities in Albania. There we’ll be going through the Ottoman bazaar to reach the fortress from where the Albanian hero George Kastrioti Skanderbeg defended the country from Ottoman invasions and where today a National Ethnographic museum and Skanderbegs Museum are located.
We will arrange a visit of a local family that still makes traditional Qeleshe (the Albanian wool hat). In the afternoon drive to Tirana. Accommodation in hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast at Hotel. City tour of Tirana that begins by visiting the key spots such as the Skënderbej square, the Et’hem Bey Mosque (outside), the clock Tower, the castle of the Roman emperor Justinian, the monumental Tomb of Kapllan Pasha, the Tanners’ Bridge and the National History Museum. Afterwards transfer to Tirana airport for departure flight.
