Venice is a city in northeastern Italy and the capital of the Veneto region. It is situated on a group of 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. The islands are located in the shallow Venetian Lagoon, an enclosed bay that lies between the mouths of the Po and the Piave rivers. The lagoon and a part of the city are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Parts of Venice are renowned for the beauty of their settings, their architecture, and artwork. Venice is an important destination for tourists who want to see its celebrated art and architecture. The main city of the Tuscany region in Italy. Florence was the center of medieval European commerce and one of the richest cities of the era. It is considered the birthplace of the Renaissance and is therefore called ”Athens of the Middle Ages”. The historic center of the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. The city is marked by culture, Renaissance art, archtecture and monuments, that is why Forbes proclaimed Florence one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

The second largest city municipality in the region and the third largest in northeast Italy.  It is one of the main tourist destinations in northern Italy because of its artistic heritage and several annual fairs, shows, and operas, such as the lyrical season in the Arena, an ancient Roman amphitheater. Two of William Shakespeare’s plays are set in Verona: Romeo and Juliet and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. The city has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its urban structure and architecture.

Trieste is a town in northeastern Italy by the Gulf of Trieste, near the Slovenian border. Many attractions are in the immediate vicinity of the city, including the Castle of Miramar (Italian Castello di Miramare), close to the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, which operates under the auspices of UNESCO and the IAEA, which also houses one of the sections of the University of Trieste.
